Mustard had the pleasure of speaking with Kapusko. Together we discussed when they began making music, their influences, their songwriting process, and so much more!
1. Hello! Mustard is grateful to have you join them. How are you?
Hello Mustard grateful to be able to do this, I’m currently in quarantine but Im doing pretty well thank you. I hope you are doing well too.
2. When did you know you wanted to make music? What year did you start?
I always had music around me but I think the moment I realized I wanted to do this was around 2014-2015 it took some years of practice before I started releasing tough.
3. Who (or what) inspires you?
The world is my inspiration in many songs I talk about stuff like mental health and substance abuse and in other songs I just rap it always depends how I am feeling so to answer your question I guess my feelings and experiences inspire my art-
4. What is your songwriting process?
Either I chose a beat or I let someone make one if I have a specific idea and then I just listen to it and let everything happen, sometimes I write my songs on my phone while the beat plays on my laptop but most times I write everything inside of my head and record it immediately for the best results.
5. Could you share more about who influences you?
This is a hard one haha, I would say everyone who makes music. I listen to alot of different music and enjoy finding out about new songs and artists, seeing people giving their best and working towards their dreams and goals always gets me motivated haha.
6. In 2019 you released “Wegen Rap.” What was the inspiration behind this single?
“Wegen Rap” is just the reflection of what I was seeing around me at that time. I was never directly involved in any criminal activities but I saw alot of it happening around me. “Wegen Rap” is a story from a birds eye view.
7. Who would you most like to collaborate with? What about this artist influences your music?
There are so many artists that I would like to collaborate with both national and international. I don’t think I could name everyone right now.
8. How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as very versatile because as I said earlier my emotions inspire the music I make and I think everyone can relate to this when I say we don’t always feel the same way, our emotions change during the day, our emotions change according to what we experience and as they change so does my sound and writing.
9. You recently released “Damonen” along with sinahbaby. Could you share more about this single?
Of course, “Dämonen” (at least to me) is about letting go of the past but still missing parts of it, if we roughly translate the hook it would mean something like ” I let all my demons in the past who would have thought it would be so lonley without them?”. We all have let things and or people in the past who were not good for us but still missed them, even toxic things leave a hole behind sometimes but we have to stay strong and keep on going towards better things and a brigther future.
10. What’s next for Kapusko?
Well on the 1st of september my new single “Mondlicht” is dropping, it goes more in a RnB kind of vibe, after that let’s see I am always making music. I hope to reach alot of people with my music and am looking forward to meeting and working with alot of talented artists in the future.
