San Francisco’s art collective Big Leap Collective, founded by Ellie Stokes, will be presenting the first ever Skatember on September 29th, 2022. Big Leap Collective provides independent artists “opportunities for diversity, accessibility, and education through immersive and community-focused events and collaboration in the Bay Area and beyond.”
The guest of honor at Skatember will be none other than Fishbone’s Angelo Moore. Fishbone is an important part of ska’s history and have provided us incredible songs such as “Sunless Sunday” and “Shakey Ground.” If you have not yet, mustard recommends you go listen to all of Fishbone’s discography if you have not done so. Your human ears will be delighted that you did.
Performing at the event will be some of ska’s biggest names in the scene such as Bad Time Record’s Eichlers, Sad Snack, The Brand New Step, and will include special guests from youth nonprofit music school The SF Rock Project. Whether you enjoy ska or not this show surely will be one you do not want to miss.
